Let's get this party started!

Hey all! The ladies and I have been thinking and talking about the art that will go along with this concept we have all been de-constucting since last September and I would like to ask for some help on my first piece.

I would like to collect some stories and quotes from you all if you don't mind...

If you would, please answer the following questions:

1. What is the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to you?

2. What is the most romantic scene/quote in a movie? (If you don't have the exact quote just give me the movie and the scene and I will figure it out--I have mad google and youtube skills).

3. Tell me about a time when you were expecting romance and you got the opposite (an example would be my peanut butter sandwich story).

Please answer these questions in the comments section, or email them to me mynameislauren@gmail.com if you want to remain anonymous. If you don't have answers to all three, then just give me the answers you do have.

Thanks for your time and all of your help.

Lauren

"Will you marry me?"
Most romantic scene in a movie - gotta love "nobody puts baby in a corner" but my mind is bringing up "I'll wait for you" in Legends of the Fall and all kinds of scenes from the notebook (dorky, I know), particularly the end where the old folks are sitting on the bench and the old guy is telling his wife (who has no idea she's his wife because of her advanced dementia) the story of their life together. LOVE THAT!
Um, expecting romance but didn't get any....I have to second the engagement sensor - I was sure Steve was going to propose everywhere we went - the gas station was one of those places - picture Steve pumping gas, then turning around, saying all kinds of romantic things to me and asking me to marry him. I was pretty obsessed with the proposal moment. (Especially since I found the receipt for my ring about two months before he actually proposed. Don't tell.)

Most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me?

I'm sure there are others, but one that sticks in my mind was said by Kenton when we were friends but trying to figure out if there was more. He said "You're like my best friend right now & if we aren't more than friends in a month, I'd be surprised." This was said over email & gave me crazy butterflies. Had we been in the same room/town, the whole month thing would have been nonsense...but we had to wait that long to see each other in person. Anyway, I remember feeling so giddy when he said that. :)

Most romantic scene in a movie?

I love the scene in Last of the Mohicans, under the waterfall when Daniel Day Lewis tells his girl "You stay alive! No matter what occurs!" That was a good butterfly moment.

A time when I was expecting romance but didn't get any?

There were a couple of holidays (Valentine's Day, Birthdays) early in our relationship where I was convinced that Kenton was planning an elaborate romantic evening only to find out that he couldn't really think of anything or didn't have anything planned. This was all before I realized how hard a time he has keeping a secret from me or planning something without me knowing. :) I definitely got myself worked up about things that were all in my head, but I can't remember any specific details.

Hope that stuff helps. I know there are tons of romantic moments in movies, but nothing really comes to mind right now...I'll think about it. :P

1. What is the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to you?
This is a great question Lauren. I sat here and pondered for a bit and thought of so many great and sweet and romantic things Gary has said to me. But no matter what, it comes down to the "simple" phrase: I love you. When he says it while looking in my eyes, it means more than anything else possibly could. I can connect so many moments to that phrase that make my heart bubble. It reflects past, present, and future to me. Cheesy but true!

2. What is the most romantic scene/quote in a movie?
It is not a romantic movie of any sorts, but it is my type of movie for sure. That’s right, it’s “The Last Boy Scout”. The most romantic scene is one of the last of the movie, after all the guns and fighting, Joe and Sarah Hallenbeck, a couple on the verge of breaking up comes back together. Out of context, it makes no sense, but if you’ve seen the movie…it really can bring tears to your eyes. The reason it’s so romantic to me is that it embodies forgiveness and opening your ears and heart to the needs of the other half in your relationship. That, and it’s funny, which is so important to me. Anyhow, here it is:

Sarah Hallenbeck:
I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.
Please forgive me.
I’ll buy a dog.

Joe Hallenbeck:
Fuck you Sarah.
Fuck you Sarah.
You’re a lying bitch and if the cops weren’t here, I’d spit in your face.

3. I really can’t think of a romantic let down. I have been with Gary for about 3 ½ years and there have been several times when I thought the big question was on the horizon. Despite no engagement, each event was filled with romance and love and sweetness. This one is a humdinger for me. Take that with a grain of salt considering my idea of romantic movie scenes. :)
